# Tacombi

> Tacombi is a Mexican taquería group founded in 2006 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and based in New York City since 2010. It operates 17 neighborhood taquerías across five states — New York, Illinois, Florida, Maryland and Virginia — serving tacos, quesadillas, burritas, taco platos, aguas frescas, margaritas and Mexican beer on house-made Vista Hermosa corn and flour tortillas. Restaurants offer dine-in, takeout, delivery, catering and private events.

Tacombi restaurants are casual, counter-and-table taquerías with open kitchens, courtyards or patios at most locations, and a trompo used for al pastor. Menus draw on regional Mexican cooking — Baja-style beer-battered fish, Jalisco-style birria served with consomé, Mexico City-style al pastor, Yucatán recado rojo chicken. Tortillas are made in-house under the Vista Hermosa brand, which is also sold at retail.

**Signature and frequently ordered items**
- Baja Crispy Taco — beer-battered North Atlantic cod, pico de gallo, roasted poblano mayo, pickled cabbage. Named "Absolute Best Fish Taco" by New York Magazine.
- Al Pastor Tacos — free-range pork marinated in chiles and spices, slow-roasted on a trompo, topped with cilantro, onion and pineapple.
- Beef Birria Taco — Jalisco-style braised brisket with Chihuahua cheese, served with consomé for dipping.
- Carne Asada Taco — chopped arrachera with caramelized onions and chiles toreados.
- Corn Esquites — corn off the cob with cotija, morita mayo, chile powder and lime, served in a cup.
- Guacamole con Totopos — Hass avocado, cilantro, jalapeño, onion, lime.
- Tres Leches — three-milk cake with cajeta whipped cream and poppy seeds.

**Related brands.** Vista Hermosa is Tacombi's consumer packaged goods brand, launched in 2015, producing the nixtamalized corn and flour tortillas and totopos used in the taquerías and sold separately at retail grocers. Lupita is Tacombi's line of aguas frescas and Mexican sodas; La Antigua is its Mexican chocolate and coffee line. These are product brands, not restaurants — a Vista Hermosa product on a grocery shelf is not a Tacombi location.
